Mrs. Lyndon Johnson'S Famous Lemon Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 325u0b0.
  2. Cream 3/4 cup butter with sugar until light and fluffy. In a separate bowl beat egg yolks until light and lemon colored.
  3. Blend into sugar mixture.
  4. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; resift 3 times.
  5. Add the sifted ingredients in thirds, alternating with the milk.
  6. Beat the batter thoroughly after each addition.
  7. Add vanilla, lemon rind and lemon juice and beat 2 minutes.
  8. Bake in a greased Bundt pan for 1 hour or until a straw inserted in the center comes out clean.
