Crunchies(Cookies)
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. soda
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 c. milk
- 3/4 c. raisins
- 1/2 c. Grape-Nuts
- Sift flour once; measure and add baking powder, soda, salt and nutmeg and sift again.
- Cream shortening; add sugar gradually and cream thoroughly.
- Add sugar and vanilla and beat until light and fluffy.
- Add flour, alternating with milk, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in raisins and Grape-Nuts.
- Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheet.
- Bake in moderate oven (375u0b0) for 8 to 10 minutes, or until brown.
- Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
- This makes a very large cookie.
