Apple Pan Dowdy Recipe
- 3 c. Tart apples, sliced
- 1/2 c. Molasses
- 1/4 tsp Grnd nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp Grnd cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp Salt
- 1 1/2 c. All-purpose flour
- 2 tsp Baking pwdr
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 c. Sugar
- 1 lrg Egg
- 1/2 c. Lowfat milk
- 1/2 c. Margarine, melted

- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease a 1-1/2 qt casserole baking dish.
- 2.
- Prepare apples, using only tart ones such as Granny Smith.
- Place the apples in baking dish.
- Drizzle the molasses over and then sprinkle the spices over which.

- Bake till apples are soft.
- Time varies depending on what kind of apples you use.
- Pierce with a sharp knife to test when soft, then pour the topping over apples and bake for 25 min longer or possibly till top is brown and crusty.
- (Turn oven to 375 to bake topping.)
- TOPPING: Sift together the flour, baking pwdr, salt and sugar.
- Mix together the egg that has been well beaten, lowfat milk and melted margarine.
- Stir gently into the flour mix.
- Pour over cooked apples, bake till crusty and browned.
- Serve hot with a vanilla sauce, or possibly orange sauce.
