Chocolate Pound Cake

  1. In a saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate.
  2. Remove from heat.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Blend in melted chocolate and vanilla.
  6. Combine buttermilk and water.
  7. Combine flour, salt and baking soda.
  8. Add to batter alternately with buttermilk mixture.
  9. Fold in nuts if desired.
  10. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube or fluted tube pan.
  11. Bake at 325u0b0 for 1 and 1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  12. Cool for 10 minutes; remove from pan to a wire rack.
  13. Dust with confectioners sugar if desired.
