Steaming Hot Ginger Flavored Simmered Daikon Radish and Atsuage (Thick Fried Tofu)

  1. Cut the daikon radish into 1-2 cm wide slices, cut each slice in half and bevel the edges.
  2. Parboil the daikon for about 10 minutes.
  3. Pour boiling water over the atsu-age to remove excess oil.
  4. Cut into 1 cm wide pieces.
  5. Cut the green beans into 2-3 equal pieces.
  6. Add the ingredients to a pot.
  7. Add the daikon radish and atsuage and bring to a boil.
  8. When the daikon radish is soft enough, add the green beans and simmer for about 2 minutes.

  10. Transfer to plates and serve.
