Homemade Bread
- 2 c. milk, scalded
- 4 Tbsp. salad oil
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 4 tsp. salt
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 7 1/2 to 8 c. flour
- Cool milk to lukewarm.
- Dissolve yeast in water and then add to milk, salad oil and sugar mixture.
- Add eggs.
- Add 4 cups flour; beat well, then add 3 1/2 to 4 more cups of flour, until stiff and not too moist.
- Turn onto well floured surface and roll around a few times.
- Put in warm place to rise 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
- (In a greased bowl large enough to let it rise until double.)
- Pour out onto floured surface; form into loaves.
- Place in greased pans (2). Cover with light dish towel and let rise until double.
- Bake at 400u0b0 to 425u0b0 about 20 minutes or until golden brown or sounds hollow when tapped.
- Grease top well.
