Turkey Dressing
- 1/4 c. margarine
- 1/4 c. chopped onion
- 1 1/2 c. chopped celery and leaves
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp. sage
- 1 whole egg
- 1 egg white
- 1/4 tsp. thyme
- 1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning
- 2 1/2 c. crumbled cornbread
- 2 1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 can water
- 1 tsp. vinegar
- Melt margarine in skillet.
- Saute onion and celery in margarine.
- Add salt, pepper, sage, thyme and poultry seasoning. In large mixing bowl, combine bread crumbs and cornbread.
- In smaller bowl, blend cream of chicken soup, water, egg, egg white and vinegar.
- Add celery and onion mixture to bread crumbs; toss lightly, then add liquid mixture and blend thoroughly.
- Turn into greased baking dish and bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour.
- (If desired, dressing may be prepared ahead of time, baked 30 minutes, cooled and frozen.
- Then, bake about 45 minutes when ready to serve.)
