Ukrainian Canape Sardine Spread

  1. Mash the sardines to a smooth paste.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients in the order given, creaming well after each addition.
  3. Season to taste.
  4. The mixture should be well blended and smooth.
  5. Set in a cool place to chill.
  6. Spread on rye bread and garnish with a contrasting color.
