Apple Pie In A Bag

  1. Preheat oven to 400u0b0.
  2. Wash and peel apples, then quarter them.
  3. Cut each apple quarter into 4 pieces, making 7 cups of large chunks.
  4. In large bowl, toss apple chunks with a mixture of 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons flour; add nutmeg or cinnamon. Toss until apple chunks are fully coated.
  5. Fill pie shell, piling them high in middle of pie.
  6. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Thoroughly mix 1/2 cup each of sugar and flour and butter into a paste.
  7. Spread over top of apple chunks.
  8. Place in large brown paper bag, closing open end.
  9. Bake for 1 hour or until browned. Let cool in bag for 5 minutes before removing.
