Bamboo Steamed Pork And Ginger Dumplings Recipe
- 1 lb grnd pork
- 1 x shallot, diced
- 1 Tbsp. unsalted butter
- 1 sm handful ginger, peeled, and, diced, finely
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 tsp mirin
- 1/2 tsp Hoisin sauce
- 20 x dumpling wrappers
- 1 x carrot, peeled, and, cut in brunoise
- 1 tsp fresh cilantro, minced
- Heat the butter in a saucepan over a medium heat and add in the shallots, the carrots and the ginger and sweat for a minute.
- Add in the grnd pork and cook till golden.
- Stir well.
- Deglaze the pan with Mirin and Soya sauce, add in the hoisin sauce and the cilantro.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Take the saucepan off the heat and let the mix cold for 5 min.
- In the meantime, prepare your bamboo steamer by placing it on top of a pot of boiling water.
- Place a piece of parchment paper in the bamboo steamer's layer.
- Take one dumpling wrapper and put 1/2 tsp.
- of the pork mix in the middle of it.
- With a pastry brush wet with water, brush the outside 1/2 of the dumpling sheet.
- Fold the dumpling in 1/2 making sure to seal the edge tightly.
- You can also tighten the edges with a fork to ensure a good seal.
- Put the dumplings on the parchment paper in the bamboo steamer and cook for 4 min.
- The dumplings are cooked when translucent/soft.
- Serve with a hoisin and Soya flavoured dipping sauce.
