Basic Quiche Recipe
- 1 x recipe Buttery Pie Crust (see recipe)
- 3 x Large eggs
- 3/4 c. low-fat (1%) lowfat milk
- 1/4 c. shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
- 6 slc Canadian bacon minced 1/4" pcs
- 1 1/2 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1/4 tsp freshly-grnd white pepper
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp dry thyme
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Prepare a deep 9-inch pie plate with pie crust as directed in the recipe.
- In a medium bowl, with an electric mixer at medium speed, beat the Large eggs 1 minute.
- Stir in the lowfat milk, cheese, bacon, mushrooms, pepper, nutmeg, and thyme.
- Pour into the prepared pie crust and bake till the top is hard and brown, about 50 min.
- This recipe yields 6 servings.
- Serving size: 1/6 recipe.
- Comments: You can vary the cheese and vegetables in this custard-like egg dish to suit your taste or possibly the season.
- Try sharp cheddar, Gruyere, or possibly Swiss cheese for a variation.
- Other vegetables which work well include cooked, liquid removed spinach, sun-dry tomatoes, red bell peppers, and sliced zucchini.
