Smothered Steak And Onions
- 1 tsp beef-flavored bouillon granules
- 1 c hot water
- 4 (4 oz) cubed sirloin steak
- 1/2 tsp salt-free lemon-herb seasoning
- cooking spray
- 1 medium onion, sliced and separated into rings
- 1 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 c water
- 2 c hot cooked long-grained rice
- Combine bouillon granules and hot water; stir well, and set aside.
- Sprinkle steaks with lemon-herb seasoning.
- Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray; place over medium heat until hot.
- Add steaks; cook 2 minutes in each side or until browned. Add onion and bouillon; bring to a boil.
- Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 12 minutes or until onion is tender.
- Remove steaks and onion from skillet with a slotted spoon; set aside. and keep warm. Combine cornstarch and 1/4 cup water, stir well.
- Add to cooking liquid in skillet; cook over medium heat until thick and bubbly, stirring constantly.
- Place rice on a plate and top with steak and onion.
- Divide gravy evenly over each serving.
- Makes 4 servings.
