Welsh Rarebit Fingers

  1. Arrange toast so that sides touch on large baking sheet.
  2. Combine cheese, beer, butter and mustard in medium saucepan.
  3. Stir over medium-low heat until mixture is smooth.
  4. Remove from heat; stir in breadcrumbs.
  5. Spoon over bread slices to cover.
  6. (Can be made 4 hours ahead.
  7. Chill.)
  8. Preheat broiler.
  9. Broil until topping begins to brown, watching to avoid burning and turning baking sheet around, if necessary, for even broiling, about 2 minutes.
  10. Cool 2 minutes.
  11. Cut each slice into 5 strips.
  12. Transfer to platter; serve.
