Lori's Turnip Cake

  1. Soak mushrooms in warm water for 20 minutes.
  2. Drain.
  3. Rinse.
  4. Squeeze dry.
  5. Chop.
  6. Bring the water and sugar to a boil.
  7. Add turnips.
  8. Simmer 5 minutes.
  9. Set aside.
  10. Heat oil in a skillet.
  11. Add sausage, shrimp and shallots.
  12. Saute 5 minutes.
  13. Season.
  14. Stir in mushrooms, turnips and flour.
  15. Mix well.
  16. Pour into a sprayed 9 inch cake pan.
  17. Steam 50 minutes.
  18. Let cool.
  19. Cover.
  20. Chill 1 hour.
  21. Bring back to room temperature.
  22. Slice.
  23. Heat oil in a skillet.
  24. Fry slices until golden.
  25. Combine the garlic, chili, soy sauce, sesame oil and sugar.
  26. Serve with slices.
