Sweet Dills(They Sure Taste Good.)
- 1 qt. (48 oz.) dill pickle chips or sticks
- 3 c. white sugar
- 2/3 c. white vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. mixed pickling spice
- 1 stick cinnamon
- Combine sugar, vinegar and spices in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil, not a hard boil, for 1 minute.
- Let cool to warm.
- Drain off the brine from the dills and toss away.
- Cut dills into slices. Replace in jar.
- You can strain out spices or leave them and pour the warm syrup over dills in jar.
- Store in refrigerator for 1 week, or use in a few days.
- You can let sugar and vinegar dissolve before cooking.
- When cooking syrup, take off burner before it comes to hard boil.
- The second batch I made with old syrup, just add 2/3 cup vinegar, 1/2 cup sugar and more spices to old syrup.
- Cook again; put in new jar of dills.
- I buy dills already sliced.
