Double-Chocolate Sugar Cookies

  1. Melt 1 cup chocolate morsels in a heavy saucepan over low heat, reserving remaining morsels.
  2. Set melted morsels aside. Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy; gradually add 1 cup sugar, beating well.
  3. Add egg, milk and vanilla, mixing well.
  4. Add melted morsels, mixing until blended. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; gradually add to butter mixture, mixing well.
  5. Stir in remaining chocolate morsels.
  6. Roll dough into balls, one tablespoon at a time.
  7. Roll balls in 1/2 cup sugar.
  8. Place on lightly greased cookie sheets.
  9. Bake at 400u0b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
  10. (Cookies will be soft and firm up as they cool.) Remove to racks to cool.
  11. Yields 4 1/2 dozen.
