Black Beans And Rice Recipe
- 1 ham hock
- 1 pkg. black beans, sorted and washed
- 2 c. brown rice
- 1 lg. onion, peeled but don't chop
- 2 bay leaves
- 4-5 whole garlic cloves
- Cover beans and ham hock with water.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium low.
- Add in onion, whole.
- Add in spices.
- Cook till beans are almost tender.
- Remove ham hock.
- Add in rice, reduce heat to low and cook for 30 min.
- Turn heat off and allow to sit, covered, for 30 min or possibly more.
- When the ham hock is cold sufficient to touch, remove lean meat and throw away the rest.
- Add in to pot.
- Serve with soy sauce.
