Scripture Cake(A Christmas Recipe)
- 1 1/2 c. 1 Kings 4:22
- 1/2 c. Judges 5:25
- 2 c. 1 Samuel 30:12
- 2 c. Nahum 3:12
- 2 c. Numbers 17:8
- 2 c. Jeremiah 6:20
- 6 Jeremiah 17:11
- 1 c. Judges 4:19
- 2 Tbsp. 1 Samuel 14:25
- 2 tsp. Amos 4:5
- a pinch of Leviticus 2:13
- season to taste with 2 Chronicles 9:9
- Follow Solomon's advice for making good boys.
- The original recipe gives no direction for mixing.
- Here is the translation as follows:
- Cream Judges with Jeremiah (1/2 cup butter with 2 cups sugar); add 1 Samuel (2 tablespoons honey).
- Add 6 Jeremiah (6 egg yolks); beat well.
- Then add the 1 Kings (1 1/2 cups of sifted flour) with Amos (2 teaspoons baking powder), 2 Chronicles (spice, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon nutmeg and 1/2 teaspoon cloves) and a pinch of Leviticus (salt) alternately with Judges (1 cup milk).
- Stir in Nahum (2 cups chopped figs), Numbers (2 cups chopped almonds) and 1 Samuel (2 cups raisins). Fold in 6 Jeremiah (6 stiffly beaten egg whites).
- Bake in a well-greased tube pan at 300u0b0 for 2 hours.
- This cake is good with New Year's eggnog.
