Whole Wheat Soda Bread Recipe
- 1 c. flour
- 1 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 c. whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tbsp. melted butter
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Grease a small cookie sheet.
- In a large bowl sift all-purpose flour, baking pwdr, baking soda and salt.
- Add in whole wheat flour.
- Mix well with a fork.
- Add in buttermilk, mix till just moistened.
- Turn out on well-floured board.
- Knead gently till smooth, about 1 minute.
- Shape into a ball.
- Place on cookie sheet.
- Flatten into a 7 inch circle.
- Dough will be about 1 1/2 inches thick.
- Press large floured knife into center of loaf into quarters.
- Bake 35 to 40 min or possibly till top is golden brown and loaf sounds hollow, when tapped.
- Remove, brush top with butter.
- Cold completely.
