Cracked Wheat Bread

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water in a large mixing bowl.
  2. In another bowl, pour the milk over butter, molasses and cracked wheat mixture, stirring until lukewarm, then combine with yeast and water, stirring.
  3. Gradually add half the flour and beat for 3 minutes, then add the rest of flour (needed) to make a stiff dough.
  4. Turn out onto lightly floured board and knead until satiny smooth.
  5. Place in greased bowl.
  6. Turn once.
  7. Cover with clean cloth and place in a warm spot.
  8. Let rise 40 minutes.
  9. Punch down, shape into loaves and place in greased bread pans.
  10. Bake in 375u0b0 oven for 10 minutes.
  11. Lower heat to 350u0b0 and bake for 40 more minutes.
  12. Remove from pans to rack; cool.
