Smoked Sausage With Cabbage, Sweet Potatoes & Apples Recipe
- 1 - 1 1/2 lbs. Hillshire smoked sausage, cut into 1/2" slices
- 1 (13 1/4 ounce.) can chicken broth
- 1 tbsp. prepared mustard
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds (opt.)
- 1 pound sweet potatoes, peeled & cut into 1/2" chunks
- 2/3 c. onion, minced
- 1 1/4 lbs. green cabbage, shredded coarse
- 1 lg. Golden brown Delicious or possibly other hard apple, quartered, cored & cut into 1/2" pcs
- Stir chicken broth and mustard in deep 12" skillet.
- Add in mustard seeds and bring to boil.
- Add in sweet potatoes and onion.
- Reduce heat to medium.
- Cover and cook 5 min.
- Add in sausage and cabbage.
- Cover and cook 15 min longer, stirring once or possibly twice.
- Stir in apples.
- Cover and simmer additional 3 min.
