Apple Crumb
- 6 large or 12 medium baking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 c. margarine
- 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 1/2 c. dry oatmeal
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- Put apples, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg in saucepan.
- Cook and stir until apples are softened; set aside.
- In mixing bowl, cream margarine and brown sugar.
- Combine flour, oats, baking soda and salt.
- Add to creamed mixture.
- Pat 1/2 of flour mixture in the bottom of a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Spread apples over top.
- Crumble remaining flour mixture over apples.
- Bake at 400u0b0 for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Serve with ice cream, if desired.
- Serves approximately 14 to 16 (recipe can be halved).
