Date Cookies

  1. Sift white flour; add leavening materials and salt.
  2. Then add whole wheat flour.
  3. Beat the egg and add sour milk and the sugar. Beat until they are well mixed.
  4. Melt the shortening and add to the egg mixture.
  5. Add the white flour, then the graham or whole wheat flour, dates and vanilla.
  6. Beat until all are thoroughly mixed. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased pan; bake in a hot oven about 15 minutes.
  7. Let cookies stand a few minutes after removing them from pan.
