Date Cookies
- 1 c. white flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. graham or whole wheat flour
- 1 egg
- 1/3 c. thick sour cream
- 1 c. light brown sugar
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1 c. dates, cut in small pieces
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Sift white flour; add leavening materials and salt.
- Then add whole wheat flour.
- Beat the egg and add sour milk and the sugar. Beat until they are well mixed.
- Melt the shortening and add to the egg mixture.
- Add the white flour, then the graham or whole wheat flour, dates and vanilla.
- Beat until all are thoroughly mixed. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased pan; bake in a hot oven about 15 minutes.
- Let cookies stand a few minutes after removing them from pan.
