Old-Fashioned Tapioca with Lemon Sauce

  1. Whisk milk, sugar, tapioca and lemon peel in heavy medium saucepan to blend.
  2. Let stand 5 minutes.
  3. Stir over medium heat until mixture thickens and boils, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Mix in vanilla.
  6. Cover and chill until cold, at least 4 hours.
  7. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead.
  8. Keep refrigerated.)
  9. Spoon into small bowls.
  10. Spoon Lemon Sauce over and serve.
