Sourdough Bread Starter Recipe

  1. Always use wooden spoon to stir.
  2. Feed starter every Monday and Thursday morning with above.
  3. Stir well.
  4. Leave on counter at room temperature 8 to 10 hrs.
  5. Store in plastic bowl with hole in top.
  6. If starter gets full, take out c. and give to a friend.
  7. Mix bread on Monday and Thursday night.
  8. Bake on Tuesday and Friday.
  9. Use large bowl.
  10. Mix with wooden spoon above ingredients.
  11. Add in 5 c. bread flour.
  12. Mix well, may have to use hands.
  13. Cover with cloth.
  14. Set in hot place overnight.
  15. Next morning divide into 3 parts: knead each part on floured board a few times.
  16. Put into 3 greased loaf pans.
  17. Brush each lightly with oil.
  18. Let rise 4 or possibly 5 hrs.
  19. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 to 45 min.
  20. Remove from oven, brush with butter.
  21. Remove from pan.
  22. Cold.
