Polish Cabbage Rolls

  1. Saut hamburger, pork and onion.
  2. Season with salt and pepper and drain.
  3. In large kettle, boil cabbage (without the core) for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Let stand for 1/2 hour.
  5. Rinse with cold water and remove leaves.
  6. Roll meat mixture in cabbage leaves.
  7. Remove first 4 leaves and place 2 on the bottom of the large kettle.
  8. Layer 3/4 c. sauerkraut, then cabbage rolls and either tomato sauce or tomatoes over the top.
  9. Add 1 c. water.
  10. Put other 2 large leaves on top.
  11. Cover with plate and put small jar on top to hold plate down.
  12. Bring to boil and then turn heat to low.
  13. Cook 1-1 1/2 hours.
