Serendipitous Brownies
- 3 sq. (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Grease and flour 8-inch square baking pan; set aside.
- Melt chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring occasionally; set aside.
- In large mixer bowl beat eggs until foamy.
- Gradually add sugar; beat until light and fluffy, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.
- Beat in chocolate until just combined. Stir in flour, salt and vanilla just until blended.
- Spread in prepared pan.
- Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out barely clean.
- Do not overbake.
- Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
- Makes 16 squares, about 165 calories each.
