Can-Your-Own Apple Pie Filling

  1. This is apple pie filling for a two crust pie.
  2. In sauce pan blend first 4 ingredients and 1 teaspoon salt.
  3. Stir 10 cups water cook and stir until thick and bubbly.
  4. Add lemon juice and food coloring.
  5. Pack into hot sterilized quart jars leaving 1 inch headspace.
  6. Fill jars with syrup leaving 1/2 inch headspace.
  7. Use spatula to help distribute syrup.
  8. Adjust lids.
  9. Process in water bath for 20 minutes.
  10. Makes 6 quarts; each quart is enough for 1 pie.
