Chocolate Fudge Cake
- 1/3 c. Crisco
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 (1 oz. each) sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1 egg
- 1 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 9 walnut halves
- In large mixer bowl, cream Crisco and sugar until fluffy. Blend vanilla and chocolate into creamed mixture.
- Add egg; beat well.
- Sift together flour, soda and salt.
- Add to creamed mixture alternately with water; beat after each addition.
- Spread batter in greased and floured 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Sprinkle top of batter with chocolate chips; arrange nut halves over top. Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 minutes or until done.
- Cool in pan.
- Cut in squares.
