Steak Cubes Hawaiian
- 2 lb. round steak
- 1/2 c. vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. ginger
- 1 can chicken consomme
- 1 (15 oz.) can chunk pineapple
- 1/4 c. vinegar
- 1 1/2 c. celery, chopped
- 3 medium onions
- 1 c. green pepper, chopped
- 3 medium tomatoes, in wedges
- 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 1/2 c. water
- Cut meat into 1 1/2-inch chunks.
- Heat oil in heavy skillet. Add garlic and meat; brown well.
- Drain oil from pan.
- Add syrup from pineapple, salt, pepper, ginger, chicken consomme and half of vinegar.
- Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Add celery, green pepper and onions.
- Cook 10 minutes.
- Add tomato wedges and pineapple chunks.
