Cabbage Rolls (Sarme)
- 1 large head cabbage
- 2 tablespoons fat
- 1 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 teaspoon chopped garlic
- 1 pound ground pork or beef
- 3/4 cup rice (cooked)
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1/8 teaspoon marjoram
- 1 teaspoon salt
- pepper
- 2 pounds sauerkraut
- 2 cups tomato juice
- Boil cabbage in hot water 8-10 minutes.
- Drain.
- Peel off leaves.
- Fry fat, onions, and garlic together until light brown. Mix with raw meat, rice, eggs, and spices.
- Put 2 tablespoons of meat mixture in center of leaf and roll it up tight.
- Put sauerkraut on bottom of large pan.
- Arrange cabbage rolls on that. Pour tomato juice over all.
- Cover and cook for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
- Serve with sour cream.
