Spiced Pear Salad(Makes 8 Servings)

  1. In a 10-inch skillet or wide saucepan, combine brown sugar, orange juice, vinegar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat.
  4. Add pear halves.
  5. Cover and simmer 5 to 6 minutes, or until pears are tender.
  6. Remove from heat.
  7. Transfer pears carefully to a storage dish and pour poaching liquid over them.
  8. Cover and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.
