Layered Taco Dip
- 16 ounces refried beans
- 8 ounces sour cream
- 12 ounces mayonnaise
- 1 14 ounces taco seasoning
- 1 medium onion
- 3 ounces canned diced green chiles
- 2 cups cheddar cheese
- 1 large red ripe tomato
- in a square 8 X 8 dish layer ingredients as follows.
- 1st layer: spread the entire can of refried beans over the bottom of the 8X8 dish.
- 2nd layer: mix 1 cup of sour cream, 1 and a half cups of mayonnaise, and the envelope of taco seasoning until the taco seasoning is evenly blended.
- spread evenly over the bean layer.
- 3rd layer: mince the medium onion and sprinkle it over the 2nd layer.
- 4th layer: sprinkle as much of the canned green chiles as you like over the onions.
- the more you put on the spicier the dip will be.
- 5th layer: spread the 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese (you don't have to use shredded cheddar cheese -- you can also use a shredded mexican cheese blend, or Monterey jack blend).
- 6th layer: dice the tomatoes and place them on top of the cheese.
- ( I deseed the tomatoes before I dice them.
- I don't like the goopy insides messing up the prettiness of the dish.
- ).
- Put this dish in the refrigerator for about an hour at least -- then serve with your favorite tortilla chips.
- Prep time does not include the hour chill time.
