Bandera Ranch Beans
- 1 lb. dried pinto beans
- 8 c. water
- 1/4 lb. margarine
- 2 onions, diced fine
- 1 green bell pepper, diced fine
- 1 (16 oz.) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. powdered mustard
- 1 tsp. Tabasco
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. powdered ginger
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- salt and pepper to taste
- Clean beans and place into a kettle with 8 cups of water. Boil slowly for two hours until beans are tender.
- Remove the floaters.
- Using a large skillet, melt margarine and saute onions and green bell pepper until soft.
- Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and seasonings.
- Simmer slowly and stir for about 5 minutes.
- Add to cooked beans and heat.
