Sweet-Sour Pork 'n' Onions
- 4 pork loin chops or 4 rib chops
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 18 teaspoon pepper
- 2 medium onions, cut into 1/4-inch slices
- 12 cup dry white wine (I use the broth) or 12 cup chicken broth (I use the broth)
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 18 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- Trim fat from pork chops --
- Cook pork in 10" nonstick skillet over medium heat, turning once, until brown; drain --
- Arrange onions on pork --
- Mix wine, vinegar, sugar and cloves; pour over onions and pork --
- Heat to boiling; reduce heat --
- Cover and simmer about 30 minutes or until pork is tender --
- Remove pork and onions; keep warm --
- Skim any fat from the liquid in skillet --
- Mix cornstarch and water; gradually stir into liquid --
- Heat to boiling; stirring constantly --
- Boil and stir 1 minute --
- Serve sauce over pork and onions -- .
