Tomato Sauce With Ground Beef(Makes Approximately 6 To 7 Cups Of Sauce)

  1. Heat oil in a large heavy saucepan; add onion and saute over low heat, stirring until tender and golden, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic; saute 1 minute.
  3. In the meantime, brown the beef in a skillet, stirring to crumble meat; drain off fat and add to the onion mixture.
  4. Add tomatoes, 2 cups water, tomato paste and all of the spices.
  5. Heat over a medium-low heat to simmering.
  6. Simmer uncovered over a low heat, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  7. Sauce will thicken as it cooks.
