Sweet and Sour Beef
- 750 g steak, large dice (topside or blade)
- 75 g butter
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 400 g pineapple chunks (drained)
- 1 medium onion
- 420 g vegetable soup (undiluted)
- 12 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 12 cup vinegar (I use white, brown or cider, whatever I have )
- 250 g fresh bean sprouts (or one can, drained)
- 1 tablespoon flour, in 1/4 cup water (I use corn flour)
- In a large heavy pan, brown the meat in the butter, turn down the heat and add the onion (chopped).
- Cook till the onion is soft.
- Add the soup, sauces, sugar and vinegar.
- Add salt and pepper is desired.
- Cover and cook slowly for 90 minutes.
- Add drained pineapple and sprouts.
- Thicken with flour and water mix if desired.
- Serve with rice or noodles.
