Half-fried Tofu (MENDOAN TAHU)
- 2 packs tofu (typically 1 pack , contains 4-5 pieces), cut to taste
- 100 gr flour
- 75 gr rice flour
- 1/2 tbsp sago flour
- 3 scallions, thinly sliced
- 2 red chili peppers, thinly sliced
- 1 green chili peppers, thinly sliced
- 3 pcs cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp bouillon powder (flavor beef/chicken, according to taste)
- 300 ml water
- to taste Salt
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 thumb turmeric, toasted
- 2 pcs candlenut
- 1 tsp coriander
- 3 tbsp chili sauce
- 2 tsp sweet soy sauce
- 5 cayenne peppers (to taste), thinly sliced
- 3/4 tsp chili powder
- Mix all sauce ingredients and set aside.
- Mix flour, rice flour and sago flour.
- Add the red peppers, green peppers, scallions and cabbage.
- Add the ground spices, bouillon powder and salt.
- Add water little by little into the batter, until the batter is thick or slightly diluted.
- Dip the tofu in batter, and fry briefly with the high heat of the fire.
- Remove and drain.
- Serve mendoan tofu with sauce, ready to accompany a relaxing time.
