Mama'S Vegetable Soup

  1. Using a large pot, put soup bone (make good broth) and stew meat together with onion, celery and tomatoes.
  2. Add enough water to fill 3/4 pot.
  3. Add salt, pepper and red cayenne pepper.
  4. Cover. Simmer several hours or half or all day.
  5. Skim off fat; discard bone.
  6. Add barley, green pepper, cabbage, carrots, green beans and corn.
  7. Cook for at least 1 hour.
  8. Then add potatoes, turnip and spaghetti.
  9. Correct seasoning, adding more water if necessary. Cook 15 more minutes.
  10. Makes a large amount.
