Apple Shoofly Pie Recipe

  2. To prepare crumb mix: Process butter, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt in a food processor till mix resembles coarse meal.

  4. To make filling: Dissolve molasses in boiling water in a large bowl.
  5. Stir in baking soda.
  6. Add in about 2/3 of the crumb mix and all of the minced apples, and mix till crumbs are moistened.
  7. Spoon into pie shell.
  8. Sprinkle remaining crumb mix on top.

  10. Bake in a preheated 375-degree oven till filling is set, about 40 min.
