Sunshine's mexican steak
- 1 1/2 lb boneless round steak
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 cup green chile sauce
- 1 (7.5 oz) jar taco sauce ( i use taco bell brand)
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1/2 cup Shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 large onion sliced
- Trim excess fat from steak ,cut steak into 4 even pieces,and pound to 1/4 Inch thickness.
- sprinkle salt , pepper and garlic powder on the steaks
- Brown steaks in butter in larger pan , add sliced onion to saute as meat is browning .and place in a shallow 2 inch casserole dish , place 2 steaks on bottom, add half of the saute onions on top of meat , add 1/4 cup green Chile sauce and half jar of taco sauce .now put the other 2 steaks on top of sauce repeat presses...cover the dish and bake for 1 hour covered , uncover for 20 minutes at 375F.
- When the meat is done baking , add the 2 cheeses on top , bake for 5 minutes now done... (I add a few jal, peppers to mine its optional) let ur steaks set for 10 minutes covered .ready to serve enjoy
