Cider Baste
- 2 cup apple cider
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1/2 cup water
- 3/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- Combine all ingredients in a heavy saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat and simmer the sauce for 5 minutes.
- Let cool to room temperature.
- Transfer to a spray bottle and use right away or refrigerate.
- Use within 1 or 2 days of making.
- *This recipe makes about 4 1/2 cups which should be enough for about 4 pounds of meat.

- **If you don't want to use a spray bottle, you can use a basting brush or mop.

- ***This tastes great on roasted or smoked meat, and is recommended for use on chicken or ribs.

- ****If you use it in chicken or ribs, apply every 30 minutes, but when using on pork shoulder or brisket, apply every hour.
