Toad in the Hole

  1. CUT a 5cm round hole from the centre of each slice of bread using a biscuit or scone cutter and discard.
  2. Spread one side of each slice with butter then place buttered side up on a paper lined baking tray.
  3. SPRINKLE 3/4 cup of the cheese over the bread then top each with another slice of bread.
  4. Crack an egg into each hole.
  5. Sprinkle over bacon and remaining cheese.
  6. BAKE in a hot oven 200C for 15-20 minutes or until egg is cooked and cheese is golden.
  7. Serve immediately.
  8. NB.
  9. Make fresh breadcrumbs by processing the discarded bread rounds in a food processor.
  10. Freeze until required.
