Greek Macaroni Pasticho Recipe
- 1 pound macaroni, short cut
- 2 pound grnd sirloin
- 1 cube butter
- 1/2 pound grated Parmesan
- 1 dozen Large eggs
- 1 quart. lowfat milk
- 1 can tomato paste (6 ounce.)
- 2 lg. onions, minced
- 6 ounce. white wine
- 1 jigger brandy
- 1/4 c. parsley, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon each cinn., nutmeg
- Salt and pepper
- Saute/fry onions in 1 Tbsp.
- butter, add in grnd sirloin and brown.
- Stir constantly till it starts to stick to bottom of pan.
- Add in tomato paste, wine, brandy, parsley, and seasonings, to taste.
- Boil macaroni, drain, rinse with hot water, drain.
- Heat butter in macaroni pot.
- Add in macaroni and 1/2 of grated cheese.
- Mix well.
- Grease a 14 x 17 inch pan.
- In large bowl, beat Large eggs well.
- Add in qt of lowfat milk and rest of grated cheese.
- In greased pan, layer half of the macaroni, pour part of the egg, lowfat milk mix, to almost cover macaroni.
- Gently layer meat mix over macaroni layer.
- Cover meat layer with rest of macaroni.
- Pour rest of egg, lowfat milk mix over all.
- May sprinkle more cheese over top if you wish.
- Bake in a 375 degree oven for 45 to 60 min.
- Cold about 20 min and cut into squares.
