Red Hot Pickles(Like Candy Apples)

  1. Cover cucumbers with lime and 8 1/2 quarts water.
  2. Set 24 hours.
  3. Drain and wash.
  4. Soak in cold water 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Drain.
  5. Simmer cucumbers in next 3 ingredients with enough water to cover cucumbers for 2 hour.
  6. Drain and throw away liquid.
  7. Bring next 5 ingredients to boil.
  8. Add cucumbers.
  9. Set overnight.
  10. Drain and reheat syrup 3 times (morning, evening and next morning).
  11. On third day, pack and seal.
  12. Process 5 to 10 minutes.
