Creole Chocolate Cake

  1. Pour coffee over chocolate.
  2. Cool.
  3. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt and cloves.
  4. Add shortening, cooled chocolate mixture, milk and vanilla.
  5. Beat two minutes with electric mixer on medium speed.
  6. Add eggs and beat two more minutes.
  7. Pour into two 9-inch layer pans.
  8. Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
  9. Frost with White Mountain Icing.
