Jiffy Steamed Syrup Pudding

• 1 pkg. Jiffy yellow cake mix (or any brand that will make a 1-layer cake)
• 2 eggs
• 1/4 c. milk
• 2 1/2 c. stale bread crumbs, ground fine
• 1 c. dark raisins
• 1 c. seeded Muscat raisins
• 1/2 c. candied orange peel
• 1/2 c. citron peel
• 1 c. candied cherries, cut in half
• 2 c. walnuts, almonds or pecans, chopped
• 1 c. figs, sliced (with scissors)
• 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
• 1/2 tsp. fresh crushed cloves
• grated rind of 1 lemon
• 1 c. apple cider
• 3 eggs
• 1 c. sugar
• 1 c. flour
• 1 tsp. baking powder
• 1 c. milk

1. Put bread crumbs in an enormous bowl, add fruit and nuts and mix well with fingers so that each piece is coated with the crumbs. Sprinkle next 4 ingredients over all.
