Creamy Tomato Soup

  1. Place tomatoes in food processor bowl fitted with metal blade.
  2. Cover; process until finely chopped.
  3. Melt butter in 3-quart saucepan until sizzling; add onion.
  4. Cook over medium heat 4-6 minutes or until onion is softened.
  5. Stir in flour, salt and pepper; continue cooking 1 minute or until smooth and bubbly.
  6. Whisk in half & half.
  7. Continue cooking, whisking occasionally, 8-10 minutes or until mixture is thickened.
  8. Stir in all remaining ingredients; continue cooking 5-7 minutes or until heated through.
  9. (Do not boil.)
  10. Pour soup into individual bowls.
  11. Top with fresh basil, if desired.
