Midwest Sausage Stuffing Recipe
- 1 pound bulk pork sausage, crumbled
- 3/4 c. chopped onion
- 1 1/2 c. minced celery, stalks and leaves
- butter
- 8 c. soft bread cubes
- 1 1/2 teaspoon crushed leaf sage
- 1 teaspoon thyme leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- In large skillet, cook and stir sausage, onion, and celery till meat is brown and onion is tender.
- Drain off fat, add in sufficient butter to sausage fat to measure 1 c.. Stir butter mix and about 1/3 of the bread cubes into meat mix.
- Turn into deep bowl.
- Add in remaining ingredients and toss.
- Makes 9 c. (sufficient for a 12 lb.
- turkey).
