Joe Froggers
- 4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. rum extract
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1 c. dark molasses
- 1 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/3 c. water
- 1 c. sugar
- Sift together flour, salt, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and allspice.
- Combine rum and water.
- Add soda to molasses. Thoroughly cream Crisco and sugar.
- Add half the dry ingredients, half the water mixture, then half the molasses mixture.
- Blend well after each addition.
- Repeat.
- Chill dough several hours. These cookies may be rolled out and cut into desired shapes or just shape with hand.
- Bake 10 minutes at 375u0b0.
- Watch carefully so they don't burn.
- Reduce heat to 350u0b0 if cooking too fast.
